Treasure Island (1990) comes to DVD!

Darby M'Graw, fetch aft the rum! There have been many film and television adaptations of Robert Louis Stevenson's immortal pirate adventure but the one that is was burned into my soul as a child was the 1990 made-for-TV version starring Charlton Heston as Long John Silver and Christian Bale as Jim Hawkins.

According to the release date is September 27, 2011. Click here to pre-order on Amazon! Your children will thank you, your inner child will thank you. How much more praise do you need to get you to spend $10.49?

It is astounding that this is the first time this production is being released on DVD. The only previous way you could watch it was when it happened to be on TV, on VHS, on laserdisc or on youtube:

Update: The DVD is out, I'm watching it now!

$2.5 Million Pirate-Themed Home Theater, Or Should I Say Theatarrr

Elite Home Theater Seating has put concept images up on their website for a pirate-themed home theater they are working on for a private client.

$2.5 million in the making, the complex includes a paved entrance way (complete with ticket booth), a Pirate tavern, and a theater that is situated on the deck of a Pirate Ship

These concept images look a bit dark (light-wase), but then again the whole place is supposed to have a candle-lit feel. Plus, I suppose theaters are meant to be dark...

The theater entrance.

The tavern.

The theater.

Visit the company's website to see more images or click here to read about some of the details in their press release.
